The Statue of Liberty was given to the United States as a gift from France to mark the 100th Anniversary of America’s Independence. It was put together in France, but then when it was time to ship it, they took it apart and put it in 214 boxes. It was put back together and dedicated on Oct. 28, 1886. In New York’s harbor she stands for all to see! But what if she decided to step down and visit the rest of the country. Well, Let’s experience the magic of reading, as I read aloud, “Liberty’s Journey” written by Kelly DiPucchio and illustrated by Richard Egielski and see what happens.
